For the Record is Spotify’s newsroom microsite platform, showcasing company news, thought leadership, and culture. It serves a range of audiences, including journalists, creators, financial stakeholders, and others. My role was to co-design a responsive website that effectively communicates these stories. You can check it out live here: https://newsroom.spotify.com.
Discovery & Brief:
The goal was to help Spotify strengthen its connection with customers by developing a responsive website called *For the Record*.
*For the Record* is a newsroom platform designed to share Spotify's company news, thought leadership, and cultural stories.
In this project, I served as the UI & Visual Designer, responsible for creating high-fidelity wireframes and final page designs for both desktop and mobile versions. We collaborated with Spotify’s internal product and brand teams to bring this mictosite to life.
Visual identity & design system
For The Record aligns with Spotify’s visual guidelines while also establishing its own distinct identity. During this phase, we experimented with and iterated on various color schemes, layouts, and visuals to create a cohesive design system that defined the site’s unique brand.
1:1 UI design & visual development
In the initial stages of designing the site, I created both low- and high-fidelity wireframes following the direction provided by the UX designer. Additionally, I helped deliver prototypes based on these wireframes to facilitate clearer communication of ideas and streamline functionality testing.
Finalizing homepage designs & prototypes
Once the UI and overall direction were finalized with the client, we shifted our focus to stylizing and animating key elements such as roll over states and navigation on desktop and mobile.
Summary Conclusion
The agency ultimately secured the business, and we led the direction and design development through to the final launch iterations. Additionally, we assisted in launching their visual assets across multiple social channels and integrated them with their podcast.
